I Don't get This

It Happens

I know... I know! Do you believe it? Sometimes my kids don't like to pose for pictures.

Just a Funny Thing...

Isn't this funny! Paddy used to bark at this statue when they first put it in and sometimes in the evening I have to close the blinds because I feel like he's watching me! It's just funny! 

But, really it has been nice now that the kids are able to play outside without me. Not only can I get more stuff done, but they have made some sweet friends. And a whole group of them are playing in front of our house, right on our porch or in the frond yard of the house directly in front of us. Its great! And whenever then find a great bug, do something new and cool, or fall and need a band-aid they come right in to get me! All the kids not just mine. The boys across the way will get me for a cool bug even if my kids aren't even outside! How cute is that!? 

I'm not sure how long Brady has been thinking about doing this to the statue, but the boys came running over and were all excited. "Come see and bring your camera!"

P.S. Typepad has changed and it will take awhile for me to figure it out... Although, that might mean more posts while I figure it out! OHhhh! Lucky you!

After dinner Jeramy took all the kids to church while he worked for a bit.

Read that again...

After dinner Jeramy took ALL THE KIDS to church while he worked a bit.

Now REALLY read that sentence again...

SHARON WAS HOME ALONE! ALONE WITHOUT ANYBODY!

You got it! I turned on Brook, lit a couple candles and sat down. I was trying to figure out when was the last time I was alone. Truly alone. Nobody around. Where I could sit and actually do something for just me?

For a split second I entertained the idea of cleaning the house. A split second. It was a really quick second.

So, I decided to use that time to create my "inspiration board" for Homegrown. I've been looking at a card I bought at Trader Joes for a while now and I wanted to work off of that. Well, I go to get it... gone. Called Jeramy to have him ask the kids... they don't know! Dang it! It really was just here!
I didn't let that get me down.

I really didn't know what I was going to create... I just decided to pray and create and see where God took it.

I've had tons of fantastic scrapbook papers sitting in a drawer for forever and pulled those out... I have also been picking up things here and there that I liked and I came across a old tin bucket filled with little odds 'n ends. That bucket really did call out my name, "Sharon! Over here! I'm cute! You haven't even looked at me in forever! Pick me! Choose me! Love me!" I picked it up. How could I not? I took those along with a few pictures and spread everything all over the table! I loved all the colors! And I sat down with a blank piece if poster board.

After looking and having to take a few picture of the papers and pictures by candle light I started dumping the little things out of the tin bucket. Here are the two words that tumbled out first...

I KNOW!
I bought that stuff YEARS ago when I was making an album for Gwyneth. She's 3 now! I haven't look in it in ages!

Of course I stopped and prayed a bit more. What was the message here?

Then I just started cutting and pasting and one thing led to another...

I'm actually not done... after finishing this piece I feel like it's only one of four. -you can kinda see the almost finished piece in the middle box on the left- I feel like it's not done, but I'm not stressed about it. I'm excited for the next step in this process.

God is telling me something in this I just can't decipher it right now. And actually... I'm fine with that too.
(if any of you have any ideas of what the lesson is... go ahead and share!)

I do know that I'm a very busy girl. With a husband, kids (one of them a nursing kid!), a home, church, family and friends... I sometimes get lost in all of it. With a young family I struggle with the constant GO! GO! GO! Sometimes I'm afraid if I stop I won't be able to start again.

I NEED time for just me.

That in itself, is a lesson.

I need time for me. Not just without kids... time with just me. So, I can pray, create and listen. So, I can see the ideas and feelings... and put them into art. Create.

Ten on Tuesday

Here we go...

1. Brady was told that this last weekend he would "for sure" get his bike fixed so he could stop riding his sisters pink bike. "Whatever it takes Bud." He was told. Little did we know that would that mean buying a brand new bike.

So, those of you bike shopping... you get what you pay for. Get a normal size bike. Because when you go to find tires for that 18" bike... you just might have a hard time finding them.

2. I don't like bugs. I don't. I understand we need bugs in our lives, but they need to stay away from me. Although, I do think some bugs are pretty. Like dragonflies!
I found this one the other day. I thought it was dead. I actually wasn't going to show you the pictures... But, the key word is thought. I THOUGHT it was dead. He was actually just too cold to fly.

And because I want you all to actually learn I found some facts on Dragonflies...

This was when I thought he was dead... I now can see how he was holding on to the blade of grass.
"No! Leave me alone! Your big eye is creepy!"

Now he's praying. "please make her go away!"

So, I'm still thinking he's dead here and wanted to move him to a better spot...

And then I noticed he was alive... I was freaking out! I can't believe I moved a big live bug!

3. And just when you thought I was so super brave it gets better! Another bug!

Now, I'm not sure she's beautiful... but, very cool looking!

4. So, you know that bike story? About Bradys bike? We learned another bike lesson. The cheeper bikes, really can't be fixed when broken. Not only do they rarely have the "oddball" tire sizes anywhere... they don't make them so you can fix the peddles either.

5. In the mist of Mary Roses bike drama Jane walks up to me and says, "Look momma! I drawled you!

I had no idea I was so pretty!

6. And how cute is she?

7. Jane wants to find that dragonfly and tell her that her name is "Angel" Isn't see sweet?

8. I have now told the kids that if they want their writing on my blog they must submit their entries to me on Tuesday evening. We will see how this goes...

9. Maggie slept better last night. She only woke up twice. I'm more hopeful today.

10. And just because we haven't see a picture of these two in a bit...

And yes, I got this post up with only 32 minutes to spare!

The Reason...

my life has stopped.

Out of all four children, Maggie is having the WORST time with her teeth! And when I say she's not sleeping... I very literally mean she's not sleeping. She's up every two hours now. The baby I once could leave with anyone I now can't leave... The baby who slept 7+ hours a night at two weeks old now wakes up every two hours! She was such an easy easy shmeezy peasy baby. Where did she go? Who traded her with this look-a-like? I want my kick back baby back! Last night I couldn't take it anymore so I popped her in bed with us. And of course that didn't work to help me to get anymore sleep... she had to suck her thumb while holding my hair. Every time I'd try to pry my hair from her chubby fists, so I could turn over, she'd wake up clawing and searching till she found my hair!

Hylands Teething tablets were life savers with the other three children. So, of course we use them with Mags... ask me if they work...

Nope. Not at all.

Okay maybe they do a bit. But, not like with the others. Man this little chubby baby is keeping us on our toes! She just can't be like the others can she? Just when we were lulled into a nice rhythm number four changes it up on us!
