Last night was back to school night. I know! Back to school night in August! It's crazy! It should still be summer!
Anyhow. The kids teachers love and adore them and are very excited to have them in their classes. Yes, chatty mouths and all. Can you believe Mrs. Peterson is already signing up to take part in Brady's Indiana Jones movie! He needs a horse and she's willing to provide. He was excited to stay after school and talk to her and let her help him figure the "horse part" of the movie. Go figure. Brady being in 4th grade, is now finding the transition from learning to learn, to now applying that to actual learning. Not that he hasn't mastered the basics. He has. Mr. Brady now needs to apply himself. Make no bones about it. Mrs. Peterson means business. I feel like this is gonna be a good year for Brady. He's a smart boy. That, and he knows he'll be missing out on Sam time and movie making time if he falls behind.
Miss Mary Rose. She's just beaming! Mrs. DeKloe wrote on her homework, "You are a prolific writer!!!" That made her DAY!!! Every so often she'd come up to me and tell me that she didn't mind that I made her do extra writing. And she declared that she was going to write for 15 minutes everyday after school. Even if it's not on her homework sheet! I just laughed and smiled and when I couldn't take it anymore I asked her what "prolific" meant... She stared at me with her hazel-ly green, sparkling eyes and said, "I don't know! It just sounds really good!" OH! She kills me! We did look up the word and she said she was right, "See! it is a really good thing!"
Last night before we went to school we picked up some dinner, took it to the park and had a fun few minutes playing. I was very lucky that Mary Rose was all into letting me take her pictures! Whoo Hoo! I love when she wants to model for me!
This next picture kills me!

I love my brother. He is nice. He is the best brother ever. One thing about him is he loves Indiana Jones. I like it kinda like him. Even if some girls think Indiana Jones is dumb. Brady and me get along together with Jane. Not all the time. I sometimes love joking around with him. Brady is senseitive to me. We take care of each other. Brady me and Jane are best brothers and sisters. Brady has three little sisters. I like him because whenever I am scared he helps me fall asleep. I love love love love love love love Brady. He is very fragel and special. So if you break him I will be very upset. And I will below. That means sad. BRADY IS SPECIAL! YOU GET IT? Yes! Yes Yes I get it okay. It sounded like you were sleeping.
She is a total nut ball! "he is very fragile" WHAT? Oh and the end! That kills me! "I will bellow. That means sad" Where does she get this stuff?
A little side note:
So when I read the homework I read that they needed to write for 15 minutes a night... I was wrong. Oops! She just needed to write for 15 minutes one night last week. I felt bad. Poor baby! But, I did get some great samples of her writing and her wacky sense of humor!
Here's the, "sensitive and fragile" Brady!
Just a few pictures here... I was trying to play around with the sunlight.
It's so funny... I was just deciding that I needed to work on having an idea in my head and capturing that with my camera. So when I read MeRa's blog I was excited that she blogged about this very thing! Pretty cool! I also read on another blog HERE, Laura has what she calls "vision boards" I'm all over that! I plan on making mine soon!
Lots 'O pictures for you! So, if things are kinda quiet around here... I'm just working out the visions in my head.
Steve if you start in on the songs Chelle and Jeramy are gonna get on you...
July 29th has been the day Brady has been waiting for.
Well, book 12 came out today. We woke up had a healthy breakfast of Apple Jacks, pears and O.J. then headed to Barns and Nobel's. I did warn Brady that they may not have it in TODAY. You kinda have to gear the guy up for dissapointment. He takes things hard. So, when they didn't have it on the shelf, he took it well. We tracked down a worker for help. While looking in the computer she said it looked like they may have it in, but it may be in a box still not yet unpacked! The boy tried hard to keep his cool! I gave her my name and number and she promiced that she'd call as soon as they unpacked it today!
About an house later we get the call! And you better believe we drove BACK to B'nN's to pick it up!
And 2 hours later he's just about half way finished. But, have no fears! "Legends of the Brethren Court" comes out this fall!
We have had so many little events happen in our lives that I really haven't gotten to blog about. One of them that I touched on a few weeks ago... remember the girls night photos? Well, Jeramy and Steve took the boys to see Indiana Jones! The whole plan was to buy Brady and Sam Indy hats and whips to give to them at the theater. Well, after waiting weeks for them to ship the hats they shipped the wrong box. BUMMER! The boys didn't know that hats and whips were on the way, they were just thrilled to see the movie! Well, the right box finally arrives and Brady couldn't have been happier. Once he was over the shock of actually getting the hat and whip, Brady's first thought was of Sam. He's so sweet! We promptly told Brady that Sam has a set in the box. And we couldn't get to Sam soon enough.
This is Jeramy explaining to Brady the you can't swing on these whips. They aren't made out of real sturdy leather and there's in hay inside that won't hold up his weight. Experience maybe?
I'm in the back telling him "it's over" if he whips one of his sisters!
Yahoo! Emma, Brady and Mary Rose!!! This was the first year they entered and they all came home with ribbons! First place ribbons! We all are so proud of them! And now everyone wants to enter!
I didn't do too bad either. I did go into this year with less confidence... I was all prepared to not leave with anything this year. There was lots of drama surrounding the pictures I entered. It happens every year... I don't seem to learn my lesson. It's frustrating. Every year I lose track of time, and I forget about having to turn in the pictures till the night before. EVERY YEAR! I rush around and have the pictures printed by different places. And every year I freak out because they don't do a good job. This year I tried a big wherehouse that claims that they print by professional standards. Yeah... not so much! I ended up having a few of the pictures I wanted to enter in my portfolio, and I had to replace ones that I wanted to enter, with different ones that I already had. I was stressed!
But, it all worked out! And to tell you the truth the ones I thought would do well didn't and the ones that I was unsure about did great! Here's the run down:
So Fun! I do have to tell everybody that Jeramy did pick out the picture that got Best of Show. I had a whole other picture picked out. Yes, it was one that the photo people messed up. I was so done and just told Jeramy to pick... he picked this one and I'm so happy he did.
So, what's the lesson? Even in things as little as entering pictures in fairs, God has plans. Your plans may change, and change in ways you don't like. It may not feel great at the time, but just watch and wait to see what Gods plans are. I guarentee they are better then yours!
I'm going to put a photo album to the right, with of the pictures from the fair. We had two vans full of people and more waiting for us there! We had fun. In looking at the pictures be sure not to miss Picky's pictures! She did great too!
Finally! The last two weeks of school just do me in every year! So much is going on and both kids want me in class for everything! And to tell you the truth I love it! But, it is a lot, and I'm happy for a break!
I get a few weeks of not having to drive up and down HWY 12 over and over again. No more having to get to school early to avoid traffic. A break from homework. Jane gets her buddies all day long! I can stay in my jammies all day if I want to! YEAH! Summer.
So, the kids school has a great event called "Cruzin' out" It's where a theme is chosen, and each class picks a song from that theme, and performs a routine to 'em. This year was Disney. The kids and teachers all work hard on the routines and over two days they perform them for the whole school. And during the last two weeks of PE, Mrs. L teaches them line dances and routines so after the classes perform, the whole school does the "Cha Cha Slide", "Cupid Shuffle" and a few more. It's really fun.
One of these years someone is going to catch me crying while they are performing. Mary Rose had a solo and sang very loud! Jeramy was standing in the back with the little girls and he heard her. She held her head up and sang! A very big deal for her. I thought I was gonna burst with pride. That is something I would have NEVER done at her age. I was so painfully shy. So, to see how different and confident she is just gets me every time!
And Bradys class did a kinda partner dance routine that they all worked really hard on. Brady and Koemi were so sweet. The pictures don't do the dance justice. It was very sweet and the kids really got into it.
This year was a great year. Brady and Mary Rose are such smart, smart kids. Yes, They can talk. And talk. And talk. And... you guessed it, TALK! Brady actually has improved in that area this year. Now he's onto singing and making sound effects while reading. Fun. He's his dads boy.
Anyhow. The kids both were very proud of their report cards and they should be. Both got E's and a few S+'s. OH! Wait Mary Rose got a N in PE! I know... I'm not sure how that happened. But, I know she can "Demonstrate age appropriate skills". I'm not worried. It was funny to see all E's and then one N. Goof.
